🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In August 1955, a civilian in Cutlerville, Michigan, reported seeing an object ascending rapidly in the sky. The witness described green, red, and white lights with no defined shape, moving north from an estimated 3000 feet to 20000 feet. Although three fighter jets were scrambled to intercept it, they failed to spot the object. The operations officer identified it as a very bright star, likely Capella, located in the northeast.
The official evaluation concluded the phenomenon was probably astronomical, ruling out other explanations such as balloons or aircraft. Although no photos were taken, the report includes details like clear visibility and the use of binoculars by the witness. This case reflects how civilian and military observers collaborated to investigate unexplained aerial phenomena during the Cold War.
