🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A witness in Burbank, California, reported a round, yellow object that remained stationary for twelve minutes. The object, described as the size of a pea held at arm's length, was visually observed from the ground. Although it might initially seem unusual, both the observer and the reviewing officer concluded it was a balloon. This assessment was based on the object's description, its immobility, and the duration of the sighting. There were no photographs or radar involved, limiting the possibility of more technical confirmation.
The report, dated August 1955, is part of the records of Project 10073, a U.S. Air Force initiative to document unidentified flying object sightings. Although the case was classified as a "balloon," its registration reflects the interest of authorities in any unexplained aerial phenomenon during the 1950s. This type of report helps understand how UFO sightings were handled back then, with an approach that combined civilian observation and military evaluation.
