UFO sighted at Nealia AFB in 1965

Summary

In September 1965, an observer at Nealia Air Base reported a mysterious object with an orange-red color. The object appeared the size of a disk held at arm's length, and several color changes were observed, with orange being the most prominent. Initially, the object seemed stationary, but when observed through a telescope, slight movement was noted.

The local intelligence officer concluded that the sighting was likely caused by a balloon. In fact, the UDH Balloon 97W was in the sky over Beilis to the east at the time of the sighting, and the object was seen at about 80 degrees southeast. Given the time just before dawn and the object's description, it was resolved to be a common balloon, not an unexplained phenomenon.
