Spherical UFO over Kankakee Illinois 1955

Summary

A witness in Kankakee, Illinois, reported a spherical object appearing very high in the northwest sky on September 23, 1955. The object changed colors and remained stationary for ten minutes before disappearing in the same spot. Due to near-total cloud cover, investigators considered the object might have been at or below cloud level. The most plausible theory was that it was a fixed light, such as a searchlight, which faded and disappeared gradually. Although no related case was found, it was concluded to be likely a searchlight.
