🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A witness in Mississippi described a luminous phenomenon in the shape of a half-moon that appeared on the horizon on September 25, 1955. The bright light had a yellow center and a border ranging from pale blue to red, with a sharp line separating the two areas. A brilliant blue beam of light radiated from the half-moon, flickered three times, and abruptly disappeared, momentarily blinding the observer. The report suggests it could have been a pyrotechnic device, such as a high-intensity flare, although it was not officially confirmed.
The area where the observation occurred had recently been used as a photoflash bomb drop zone, adding to the mystery. Despite multiple witnesses, no evidence of an aerial device or balloon was found. The detailed description and sudden disappearance of the phenomenon led to speculation, though it was concluded to likely not be an unidentified object.
