🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In September 1955, a civilian witness reported seeing three lights forming an equilateral triangle about 30 miles east of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The lights were estimated to be 100 feet apart and appeared bright red and flashing. A silver dollar held at arm's length could cover all three, suggesting they were relatively small. The objects displayed the ability to hover and seemed to be under controlled flight, following a path that appeared predetermined. The estimated speed was between 20 and 30 mph.
Investigators concluded that the sighting was likely caused by three known dirigibles in the area at the time. Although other possibilities like balloons, aircraft, or astronomical events were considered, they were ruled out due to insufficient evidence. The official report did not open a formal case, but the analysis suggests the phenomenon was conventional, not unexplained.
