🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In October 1955, a witness in Lafayette, Indiana, saw an object that initially looked like a parachute. The object, which moved in unexpected ways, first ascended, then approached the observer tumbling, and finally shot away quickly toward the sun. Despite the clear description, the report was submitted three years later, complicating the possibility of an immediate investigation. The object was described as metallic, about 20 feet in diameter, and moving faster than any jet the witness had seen.
The official conclusion of the case was that it was a balloon, although the report lacks photos or radar data. The file, part of Project 10073, was archived without further details. The witness, who did not identify the object at the time, reported it after finding an address in a book. Despite the lack of additional evidence, the detailed description and unusual behavior of the object raise questions about its true nature.
