🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
An object was sighted in Elkton, Maryland, on October 12, 1955. Witnesses described it as a bright fluorescent light shaped like a cigar, approximately 125 feet long. The object was moving southeast at an estimated speed of 200 mph in a straight and level flight. Initially thought to be a balloon, the possibility of an aircraft was also considered. The observation was brief and no photographs were taken, making a more precise evaluation difficult.
The description of the object highlighted its intense glow and clearly defined shape, with the front end appearing sharper than the rear. Although the presence of aircraft in the area was known, none matched the sighting. The official report classified it as possibly astronomical or a balloon, but an aircraft was not ruled out. The case remains without a conclusive explanation.
