🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In October 1955, a witness in Rialto, California, reported a luminous object resembling a meteor with falling fragments. The object was described as blue and white, and was seen for three seconds before disappearing after an explosion. Although initially considered a balloon or aircraft, investigators concluded it was an astronomical meteor. The account was brief but detailed, and while no photos were taken, the description included a clear account of the object's trajectory and brightness.
A second report, this time in Monrovia, described a bright flash of white light. This second sighting was also classified as a meteor, although no additional information was obtained as the station had already closed. The records from the time show that witnesses had no doubts about the nature of the event, and meteorological and wind data were considered to rule out other explanations. Despite the brevity of the sighting, the description was sufficient to classify it as an astronomical event.
