🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In October 1955, a bright object was spotted from Stewart Air Force Base in New York. Witnesses described it as round, the size of a half-dollar coin, with a color ranging from silver to red. The sighting lasted 30 minutes, and although several observers saw it, no photos were taken. An intelligence officer suggested it could be a weather balloon. This explanation was eventually adopted officially.
The classified report under Project 10073 recorded the sighting as likely a balloon. Despite the object not showing aircraft or astronomical characteristics, the lack of concrete data led to the conclusion that it was a balloon. The observation was made from the ground, without radar or images, limiting the possibility of a more precise evaluation. The case was closed without further investigations.
