🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In January 1956, a witness in Roseburg, Oregon, spotted a round white object with sparks. The report classified the event as likely astronomical, meaning a meteor. The sighting lasted 2 to 3 seconds and was observed from the ground, without radar or photos. The witness, an aerospace engineer, described the object as hot and about a foot in diameter.
The official evaluation ruled out balloons, aircraft, or other known objects. There was no aerial activity in the area at the time, reinforcing the theory that it was a natural phenomenon. Despite the brief sighting, the report concluded there were no signs of an unidentified object, but rather a common meteor.
