In January 1956, a witness in North Platte, Nebraska, reported an object in the sky that appeared round with rods extending from it, the size of a baseball, and with silver, yellow, and green colors. The object made no sound and moved westward. Initially considered a balloon or aircraft, astronomical data suggested it could have been Venus, which was in a position and magnitude matching the observation at the time.
The duration and motion of the object, along with its distorted appearance, led investigators to conclude it was likely an astronomical body. However, the detailed description from the observer and the lack of sound created some uncertainty. Although no conclusive radar data or photographs were recorded, the report suggests the sighting had no clear explanation, though it leaned toward a natural one.
