Summary

In January 1956, a witness in Seattle spotted an oval-shaped object with a golden glow and a long tail. The object was ascending and was observed for three minutes on a clear night. Although a plane with a contrail was considered, the data was insufficient for a conclusive evaluation. A second report from the same month described a crescent-shaped object, very bright and white-yellow in color, observed for one hour and thirty minutes. This object was eventually identified as Venus, though initially thought to be a balloon or aircraft. Prevailing winds ruled out a balloon, and the planet's trajectory matched the object's path.
