Summary

In February 1956, a MATS C-124 crew sighted an unidentified object in the Pacific. The object was heading southeast at an estimated speed of 1000 knots, at around 2500 feet altitude. It was described as having a "Jack O'lantern" shape with a yellow or amber light. No visible markings were observed. Although a jet in the jet stream was considered, the data was insufficient for a conclusive evaluation.

The report was classified as UFOB and sent to authorities for analysis. However, no further information was received that could correlate it with any known aircraft. The case remained unresolved, and the file was downgraded and eventually declassified after 12 years. This document is another example of many UFO reports from the Cold War era that lacked a clear explanation.
