🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A fighter pilot in an F-86D and several civilians reported a bright object in the sky over Buffalo and Hamburg, New York, on the night of February 29, 1956. The pilot, who intercepted the object, described it as luminous, white and red, and capable of maintaining distance without being detected by radar. The object changed in brightness and remained visible for hours. Although initially considered a spacecraft or atmospheric phenomenon, investigators concluded it was likely the planet Venus, which appears bright in the night sky during that time of year. Witnesses confirmed the object's presence, and the official report classifies it as an astronomical event.
