🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In February 1956, an observer in South Newton, Iowa, spotted a round object the size of a pea, white in color that changed to various hues. The sighting lasted between 4 and 5 minutes, but no positional data or course of the object was recorded. Due to the lack of information, investigators concluded there was insufficient data for an evaluation. The report, part of Project 10073, does not offer a clear explanation, though mentions that phenomena such as balloons, aircraft, or astronomical bodies were considered.
February 1956 was an active month for unexplained sightings in the United States. From a rock that hit a child in New Jersey to an object performing maneuvers near a car on the Jersey shore, the testimonies ranged from the inexplicable to the clearly earthly. In other cases, such as in Vancouver or Santa Barbara, observers described fast-moving silent lights or luminous shapes moving in unusual ways. Despite numerous reports, most did not result in a clear resolution, and in many cases it was concluded that there was not enough information for a definitive evaluation.
