🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In March 1956, multiple witnesses in Graham and Burlington, North Carolina, observed a luminous object that changed color between red, green, and amber. The phenomenon was seen over several nights, with consistent descriptions of its round shape, basketball-sized dimensions, and slow movement toward the southeast. Witnesses, including engineers and police officers, observed it with binoculars, glasses, and the naked eye. Despite investigations, no radar or aircraft activity explained the sightings. Official reports concluded it was likely the star Sirius, though some witnesses suggested it could be an artificial satellite.
The official investigation considered multiple explanations, from weather balloons to optical phenomena, but ruled most out. Meteorological data and the absence of air traffic in the area pointed to an astronomical explanation. However, witnesses insisted it was not a known celestial body, adding a touch of mystery to this classic UFO case.
