A violet-colored luminous object with a red light was seen multiple times over an airport in Venezuela in 1956. Witnesses reported that the object, larger than an airplane and round in shape, left a blue wake behind it as it flew at an estimated altitude of 2000 meters. A British tourist attempted to photograph it from a hotel terrace, though the images were never received by investigators. The phenomenon was also spotted over the town of Carora.
