🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A witness reported a bright object moving in the sky over Old Bridge, New Jersey, on April 28, 1956. Initially, the object appeared like a star getting brighter, but then it dimmed and began moving toward the northwest. The object changed color to red and then to a dull red, slowed down, and then suddenly accelerated to an impressive speed before disappearing. The observation lasted approximately three minutes, which generated some confusion about the object's nature.
The U.S. Air Force technical report considered several possibilities, including balloons, aircraft, or astronomical phenomena, but no definitive conclusion was reached. The witness, a man with aviation experience, drew a sky map to illustrate the object's movement. Despite his knowledge, he could not identify the object as a conventional aircraft, meteor, or comet. The report concluded that there was insufficient information for a conclusive evaluation, but noted the possibility of a jet fighter using afterburner. However, the object's unusual speed and behavior remained unexplained.
