🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A round cylindrical object the size of a pencil eraser was observed for 35 minutes in the sky over North Carolina. It had a bright silvery color with clean edges contrasting against the blue sky. Five members of the Thunderbird aerobatic team saw it and were certain it was not a balloon, aircraft, or known astronomical phenomenon. Although Venus was considered, the object remained stationary, which is unusual for a celestial body. The lack of photos and the inability to identify it clearly make this case intriguing and unresolved.
The official report did not reach a definitive conclusion, reflecting the difficulty of interpreting unconventional aerial phenomena. Despite the observers' experience, the object did not fit into any known category. Cases like this were common in the 1950s, when UFO hunting was at its peak and every report sparked debate among scientists and military officials.
