In May 1956, a witness in Wheaton, Illinois, spotted a bright object resembling a dime held at arm's length. The object, ranging in color from white to pink, was drifting slowly northwest. The initial report included no photographs but a detailed description from the observer. The sighting lasted approximately 25 minutes, indicating the object was not fast-moving or accelerating unnaturally.
The official evaluation concluded it was likely the planet Venus. This identification was based on the object's appearance and behavior, matching known characteristics of Venus in the night sky. Although UFO reports often spark curiosity, in this case, the astronomical explanation was sufficient to close the case without further investigation. The sighting was confirmed by the 755th ACWRON, reinforcing the theory that it was a celestial body.
