🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
An Air Force pilot and observer reported a UFO in May 1956, 50 miles northwest of Monroe, Louisiana. The object, described as cross-shaped and brilliantly lit, was observed for 15 minutes. The pilot attempted to intercept it without success, coming within 200 yards. The object displayed unusual maneuverability, outpacing the T-33 jet. The pilot, experienced in combat missions, stated the light was blinding and the object the size of his palm at arm's length. Despite investigations, the phenomenon was not conclusively identified.
The inquiry included checks with air bases, weather observatories, and astronomical facilities, but no definitive evidence was found. A weather balloon hypothesis was considered but not confirmed. The final report concluded the phenomenon could not be attributed to known objects, though an optical phenomenon was suggested. The case remains an unresolved mystery in UFO history.
