🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A witness in Alberton, Montana, reported seeing two object shaped like parachutes in the sky. They were estimated to be at around 40,000 feet altitude and descending. Initially, they had a bright white color, similar to a magnesium flare, and turned red as they disappeared. The sighting lasted 47 minutes and was classified as a local event. The lack of telemetry equipment in the balloons made it difficult to confirm their exact location.
The air base investigated and found that four balloons from California were in the area. Due to a telemetry equipment failure, their position could not be tracked precisely. However, it was known they were at the estimated altitude reported by the witness. The base concluded it was likely that two of those balloons were the ones observed, though other possibilities were not ruled out. The report was filed without a definitive resolution.
