🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In July 1956, a U.S. Air Force pilot spotted a teardrop-shaped object, the size of a silver dollar, with a tapered end at the bottom. The object, described as whitish-silver, appeared to have ropes hanging from it. It was accidentally sighted for two hours, from 01:10 until dusk, with very little movement. Four aircraft attempted to intercept it, but without success. Despite the detailed description, investigators concluded it was likely a balloon.
The observation was recorded as "Air-Visual," without optical aids, and the pilot, a 25-year-old rated as very good, reported no hostile activity or clear identification. Weather conditions were favorable, with scattered clouds and calm winds. Although no photos were taken, the official report classified it as a probable balloon, a conclusion that did not fully satisfy those who analyzed the case.
