🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A round object was seen for 40 minutes in the sky over Terre Haute, Indiana, in July 1956. It was described as slightly larger than the North Star, yellow or white in color, and moving from the southeast to the northeast. Although no photos were taken, a civilian observer reported it in detail. It was estimated to be at an altitude between 7,000 and 8,000 feet. Investigators concluded it could have been a balloon, which would fit the description and trajectory of the object. The lack of photographic evidence and the short duration of the sighting led to the consideration that a conventional explanation could not be ruled out.
