🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A Pan American Airlines pilot reported a glowing circular object during a flight in 1956. The incident occurred southeast of Newfoundland, Canada, at an altitude of 15,000 feet. The object, blue-green in color and the size of a golf ball, was moving northward at a speed greater than any known aircraft. The pilot initially thought it was an exhaust flare but soon realized it had no defined shape and disappeared behind clouds. The Air Force's classified report could not identify it as a balloon, aircraft, or astronomical phenomenon, making it an unresolved case.
The pilot's testimony was detailed and coherent, and although there was no physical evidence or photographs, the case was recorded by the Air Force Office of Special Investigations. The report concluded that there was insufficient data for a definitive evaluation, but it highlighted the impossibility of explaining the phenomenon with conventional knowledge. The pilot did not report the incident to his employer due to fear of ridicule, adding a human touch to this aerial mystery.
