Summary

In July 1956, a witness in Temple, Texas, reported seeing an unidentified flying object described as a bright, white sphere resembling a glowing fluorescent lamp. The object appeared around 8:20 AM, about 50 degrees above the horizon, and moved in a straight line at a speed faster than a jet. The observer, who saw it while driving, estimated it remained visible for 1.5 to 2 minutes. It left no vapor trail and did not behave like a balloon, aircraft, meteor, or any known phenomenon.

The report includes a visual comparison to Venus and the full moon, and the witness emphasized that the object had no wings, fuselage, or other conventional aircraft features. He also noted that minutes later a commercial plane appeared in the same direction, suggesting the object was unrelated to normal air traffic. The case was submitted to military authorities, but no clear conclusion was reached, and the report was classified as possibly astronomical or insufficient for evaluation.
