A bright star-like object was observed over Long Island, New York, on August 3, 1956. The witness described a white object traveling eastward, wobbling in flight before stabilizing into a straight path. The sighting lasted about 45 seconds, but what stood out was that the object "faded out" faster than expected, raising questions about its nature. Although initially considered a balloon or astronomical phenomenon, reports concluded it could be an aircraft, especially given the high air traffic in the area at the time. The lack of photos or radar data made a definitive assessment difficult, but available information points to a conventional explanation.
