🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In August 1956, a witness in Morton Grove, Illinois, reported a small orange star-shaped object resembling a kite with a light. The object appeared at 500 feet altitude in the east and remained stationary for fifteen minutes. Although no photos were taken, the description suggested it could be a balloon. The official evaluation considered this a possibility but did not rule out other explanations.
The report, part of Project 10073, was classified as "possibly a balloon." There was no radar or air intercept, and the single witness provided no further details. Despite the simplicity of the case, the object's duration and stillness generated some curiosity. Ultimately, it was archived without a definitive conclusion, but with a plausible terrestrial explanation.
