🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In August 1956, a civilian in La Jolla, California, reported an unidentified flying object with a pinkish glow that crossed the vapor trail of a jet aircraft. The witness, an architect, described the object as the size of a thumbtack and saw it make a 90-degree turn before vanishing quickly. His wife and son also confirmed the sighting, though they could not provide further details on speed, altitude, or size. The object's description and unusual maneuver did not fit conventional categories like weather balloons or aircraft.
The official investigation concluded that the data was insufficient for a precise evaluation, and no other witnesses were found in the area. Despite the clear description of the color and the unusual maneuver, authorities could not determine the nature of the object. The report was classified as "insufficient data," reflecting the ambiguity of the case. The witness also mentioned having seen similar objects in the past but did not report them due to fear of ridicule. This case remains one of those aerial mysteries without a clear explanation.
