Summary

In August 1956, a witness in Booneville, Missouri, observed an elongated object with a yellow, white, and green tail. The object, described as the size of a football at arm's length, moved westward at an altitude of between 8,000 and 10,000 feet. It was visible for one minute, both with the naked eye and through binoculars, and disappeared by gradually decreasing in size. Although it might initially seem unusual, investigators concluded it was likely a meteor, with a slight overestimation of the observation duration.

The description and movement of the object matched typical patterns of a luminous meteor. There was no associated noise or signs of unnatural activity, supporting the theory that it was an astronomical phenomenon. Despite the object's unusual appearance, the available evidence does not suggest a more mysterious explanation than a falling star.
