🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In August 1956, a police officer in Tarrytown, N.Y., reported a yellowish light in the sky moving slowly in a southeasterly direction. The witness, an experienced World War II pilot, described it as five to eight times larger than any visible star. Initially thought to be a shooting star, investigators later concluded it was more likely a balloon. Wind patterns in the area matched the object's course, supporting this theory. The object remained visible for several hours before disappearing.
