🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In August 1956, an Air Force officer in Terre Haute, Indiana, reported a bright red object ascending at a 45-degree angle toward the southeast. The observation was made from the ground, and the object was described as a steady light that decreased in size until it vanished. Although balloon and astronomical explanations were considered, the object's behavior didn't match either.
The report notes that a commercial flight was in the area at the time, but its trajectory didn't align with the object's. The observer, with clear skies and no clouds, couldn't identify the object with certainty. The Air Force concluded there was insufficient data for a definitive evaluation, leaving open the possibility of an unconventional phenomenon.
