🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In August 1956, a witness in Staunton, Virginia, described an aerial object that looked like a blue gondola with red and white lights. The sighting lasted 10 minutes, and the object moved in a straight line. Although a weather balloon was suggested as a possible explanation, it was not confirmed. The detailed description of the lights and the unconventional appearance of the object generated some curiosity.
The report suggested it could be a balloon with lights for theodolite tracking, but other explanations were not ruled out. The lack of additional data and the imprecise location of the object made a conclusive evaluation difficult. This case reflects the common ambiguity in many sightings from that era, where unusual lights and shapes raised unanswered questions.
