🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In August 1956, an observer in Montgomery, Alabama, spotted a round white object larger than any star or planet. The object changed shape and emitted red glowing points in all directions, similar to jet exhaust. It was observed for over two hours with binoculars and the naked eye. Although it vanished suddenly, it reappeared in the same location. The sighting lasted four hours and was considered likely to be the planet Mars due to its movement and position.
The hazy weather and proximity to Maxwell Air Force Base suggested it could be a ceiling light from the weather station, diffused by scattered clouds. However, the observer's testimony and the description of the phenomenon didn't fully match a conventional explanation. The lack of photographs and ambiguous data left several possibilities open, including a UFO hypothesis.
