🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In September 1956, a witness in Albany, New York, observed a round white object the size of a softball. The object hovered before rapidly ascending toward the southeast. The sighting lasted about ten minutes, and although no photos were taken, the witness described it clearly. Weather conditions and the object's behavior led investigators to consider it might be a balloon. However, its unusual speed and trajectory generated some uncertainty.
The official evaluation concluded it was likely a balloon, though other possibilities were not ruled out. The report, part of Project 10073, was shared with several military and intelligence units. Despite the detailed description from the witness, there was no definitive confirmation of the object's nature. This case reflects the complexity of unidentified flying object sightings at the time, where technological limitations and lack of concrete evidence made clear resolution difficult.
