🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In October 1956, a civilian in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, reported a UFO that remained visible for three and a half hours. The object, described as pear-shaped and silver, stayed stationary with slight drift. It was estimated to be above 10,000 feet, placing it above a nearby aircraft. The sighting was made with the naked eye and binoculars, and a balloon was ruled out due to weather conditions.
Meteorological data showed winds that wouldn't have allowed a balloon to stay in the area for that long. Ultimately, it was concluded that the object was likely the planet Mars, which was in the southeast horizon. Despite a pilot's attempt to photograph it from 6,000 feet, no pictures were taken. The observation was officially recorded and evaluated by multiple military offices, but no definitive conclusion was reached.
