🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In October 1956, a witness in Newburgh, New York, observed a luminous object moving up and down for more than an hour and a half. They described a white sphere with a red point, the size of a pinhead at arm's length. The object showed no characteristics of an aircraft or astronomical phenomenon, which generated curiosity. The official report suggested it could be a balloon, as many had been launched in the area recently.
The second sighting was of a similar object, but blue-white and very bright, which approached the moon and disappeared. Despite the duration and clarity of the observations, no photos were taken and radar was not used. The responsible officer concluded it was likely a balloon, although the testimony suggests something unusual was seen in the night sky.
