Summary

In July 1952, a 48-year-old man named Oscar Linke, who had escaped from the Soviet zone to West Berlin, gave a sworn statement before a judge about a strange flying object he had seen in East Germany. According to Linke and his 11-year-old daughter Gabriella, the object resembled a large frying pan with a diameter of between 13 and 15 meters. While walking near Hasselbach, Gabriella pointed out an object that Linke initially thought was a young deer. Upon approaching, he discovered two figures in shiny metallic clothing examining something on the ground. The object had two rows of holes and a conical tower on top. After a series of strange movements, the object took off and disappeared toward Stockheim.

The description of the incident includes details such as the object changing color from green to red, a soft hum, and a ring of fire surrounding it. Linke insisted it was not a dream, as he found a circular imprint in the ground matching the shape of the conical tower. Although he initially thought it could be a new Soviet military device, other local residents mistook it for a comet, adding to the mystery. This report, published in a Greek newspaper, reflects the confusion and fear surrounding UFO sightings in divided Germany.
