🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A teardrop-shaped object with a slight trail was observed in the sky over Lubbock, Texas, in 1956. Witnesses described it as ranging in color from bluish-white to dull orange, resembling a Roman candle or flare. The object descended vertically and disappeared by burning out, remaining visible for one to three seconds. Although initially considered a UFO, investigators concluded it was likely a meteor, based on the duration, description, and manner of disappearance.
The investigation involved both civilian and military personnel, including instructor pilots and airway operations specialists. Despite varied testimonies, there was no conclusive evidence of an unidentified object, and the event was deemed consistent with a typical meteor. This case illustrates how many UFO reports are resolved with natural or conventional explanations.
