🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A technician working on an antenna in Coronado Island, California, observed a round white and red object in November 1956. The object was in orbit and then stopped, attracting the attention of two aircraft that intercepted it. The observation lasted 28 minutes, suggesting the object was not a fleeting phenomenon. Although a weather balloon was considered, no photos or radar were used to confirm the object's identity. The official report classifies it as "possibly a balloon," but the detailed description and the aircraft's reaction add mystery to this case.
The technician used binoculars to observe the object while working. The weather was clear with moderate winds, ideal conditions for a visual sighting. Despite a conventional explanation being considered, the description of an object changing its trajectory and attracting aircraft doesn't easily fit known categories. This case, like many from the era, reflects the confusion and curiosity generated by UFO sightings in the 1950s.
