🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In November 1956, a mysterious object was spotted over South Dakota. A state police officer and a farmer reported a red-glowing object that hovered and moved across the sky. Witnesses described it as blue-green and cone-shaped, remaining visible for about 30 minutes. The Air Force classified it as "possibly a balloon," but the lack of clear evidence left many questions unanswered.
This case is part of the so-called "Dakota Flap," a wave of UFO sightings that occurred between November and December 1956. Over 80 reports were recorded in just 25 days, with South Dakota as the epicenter. While most cases were explained as weather balloons or astronomical phenomena, some details didn't fit conventional theories. The official report suggests it could have been a balloon, but the colorful, cone-shaped description doesn't align with standard balloons of the time.
