🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In December 1956, an observer at Chandler Air Force Base in Minnesota reported a bright object moving across the sky. They described a white ball that turned green as it descended, with behavior that seemed to defy gravity. The object was seen for 20 to 30 seconds and moved at a noticeable speed. Although initially surprising to the witnesses due to its altitude change, officials concluded it was a meteor. The slight upward movement was attributed to an optical illusion.
The air base submitted the report as part of an air surveillance system, and although no photographs were taken, details such as time, direction, and visual description were recorded. The official report noted that the object showed no characteristics of a balloon, aircraft, or unknown phenomenon. Despite the brief sighting, the data aligned with a common meteor, leading to its final classification.
