🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In December 1956, a USAF pilot observed a silver object with a straight wing at an altitude between 56,000 and 62,000 feet. The sighting lasted 15 minutes, and the object was moving in a south-north direction. Its speed was estimated at Mach 0.85, making it extremely fast for the time. The object had a configuration similar to experimental aircraft, with large air intakes and an aerodynamic shape that was uncommon.
Air intelligence concluded that the object was definitely an aircraft, likely a reconnaissance model on an experimental mission. Despite initial confusion, the reports were reviewed and it was determined that it was not a balloon, an astronomical phenomenon, or an unidentified object. This case is part of the Project 10073 records, where sightings of unidentified aerial objects were documented during the Cold War.
