🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A red and green star-shaped object was observed for two hours in Newberryport, New Hampshire, in December 1956. The witness, a U.S. Coast Guard apprentice seaman, described a blinking object the size of a dime at arm's length. Despite the long observation time, no photos were taken and no radar was used. Observers used binoculars for part of the time and confirmed the weather was clear with excellent visibility.
The official conclusion was that the phenomenon was astronomical, specifically the planet Venus. This aligns with the object's stationary position and colors, which could match reflected light from Venus. Although UFO reports were common in the 1950s, this case was resolved clearly without further investigation. The report was processed by multiple military units, including Wright-Patterson AFB, reflecting the attention given to unidentified objects during that era.
