🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In December 1956, a witness in Long Valley, New Jersey, observed an unidentified flying object with a bright appearance and a tail moving horizontally from southwest to northeast. The object, described as symmetrical with a brilliant blue-green front and a yellow-orange rear, was seen for about 15 seconds through the windshield of his car. The witness noted that the object made no sound and had a sharp, regular shape without loose particles or a luminous trail. A second observer confirmed the presence of the object, though for a shorter duration.
The U.S. Air Force concluded that the sighting was likely caused by a large meteor. Despite the detailed descriptions from the witness, including the apparent distance and size of the object, no alternative explanation was found. The official report classified the event as an astronomical phenomenon, suggesting the object was not a balloon, aircraft, or any known technology at the time. The driver's testimony, along with his wife's account, adds credibility to the report, although no photographs or additional data were recorded.
