🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In January 1957, a civilian observer in Wadena, Minnesota, reported seeing a multi-colored object shaped like an "X" that remained in the sky for almost 20 minutes. The witness, a rest home caretaker, used binoculars to observe the object, which he described as having a yawing motion and emitting a humming sound. Although initially considered a balloon, there were no confirmations of balloon launches in the area. The object disappeared to the east, and the report concluded it was likely a balloon, though without conclusive evidence. The detailed description and behavior of the object generated interest, but no definitive identification was made.
The official investigation under Project 10073 considered the case, and although several organizations and agencies were contacted, no affirmative responses were received about the presence of balloons or aircraft in the area. The weather conditions were clear, and the observer was considered reliable. Despite the lack of photographs or physical evidence, the report highlighted typical characteristics of a balloon observation. This case, like many from the era, reflects the uncertainty and the need for rigorous analysis in UFO reports.
