🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In January 1957, a housewife in Random Lake, Wisconsin, observed two objects resembling stacked white barrels floating in the air for five minutes. They showed no visible exhaust and moved from west to east. Despite no photos being taken, witnesses agreed the description matched a partially inflated high-altitude balloon. Weather conditions verified by phone with the weather office perfectly matched the expected winds for that time. The object is believed to have been a research balloon launched by General Mills from Minneapolis-St. Paul.
This case was analyzed by Project 10073, which concluded it was likely a balloon. Although it might initially seem unexplained, the weather data and object description strongly support this interpretation. The observation, though brief, was detailed and coherent, helping investigators rule out other possibilities such as aircraft or astronomical phenomena.
