Summary

In February 1957, at Castle Air Force Base in California, a notable UFO event was recorded. Nine "S"-shaped objects appeared on the radar screen, traveling at an astonishing speed of 6,000 miles per hour. Observers tracked them for 24 seconds, covering approximately 40 miles. Although the objects were not photographed, several radar operators and a radio operator from a nearby aircraft reported the sighting. Some thought they might be meteors, while others suggested atmospheric phenomena or equipment interference.

Investigators concluded there was insufficient data to determine the nature of the objects. A technical representative from the radar manufacturer noted that atmospheric phenomena could explain the readings. Despite theories, no one saw anything resembling a typical unidentified object. The official report suggested interference or equipment malfunction as possible explanations, but none were definitive.
