🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A notable UFO case occurred in Great Meadows, New Jersey, in 1957, when a witness described an object shaped like a derby hat, the size of a basketball, and white in color. The object emitted a low, rumbling sound and was noticed by the barking of the house dogs. The observation lasted one minute, and the object rose vertically into the sky, disappearing into the clouds. Despite various theories, such as balloons or blimps, no conclusive investigation was carried out. This case is one of the most detailed and specific reported in UFO history.
The description of the object included details such as its smooth, featureless appearance, its gentle movement, and the effect of "lines" of shimmering light emanating from its base. The witness, a respected and credible individual, did not report the incident officially due to fear of ridicule. Years later, she contacted the Commission for the Study of Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (CSI) to provide more details. Although conventional explanations like airplanes or balloons were considered, the object's appearance and behavior did not match any of them. This case remains an unsolved mystery in the history of UFOs.
